SALT 2023 was McKenna’s first time coming to SALT. This interview was done on Day 2. She later commented that she thought she was coming to SALT to learn a few tips and tricks she could bring home. However, once she was at conference she realised what she really needed was rest, renewal, and inspiration. All of which she found while at SALT. Being at SALT also inspired her to reach out to others in the church communications world to ask for help and mentorship. McKenna brought the rest of her team to SALT in 2024 so they too could experience the same rest and renewal she had.

In 2021 Avery was invited to volunteer as a Camera Op for some SALT Conference workshops. At the time Avery was already feeling called to step into full-time ministry, but was unsure of what his next steps were. Avery’s calling was reignited during his time volunteering at SALT. Shortly after conference ended Avery was presented with the full-time ministry opportunity he had been praying for.
